Glitter in Black

"One is never over-dressed or underdressed with a Little Black Dress."
                                                          -Karl Lagerfeld

What I wore to today's meeting?
A Little Black Peplum Dress!

As expected, people just came in casual attire. But as part of the event,
I didn't mind putting some extra effort to dress up as an executive :)
My dress in fact has glitters all over. Some are actually captured in the camera.
Just pair your LBD with nude pumps and you'll look fab!

I may be overdressed or whatnot, but I'm  happy that I did look great
with the compliments I got from random people.

Suit Up

Don't you just love JumpSuits?!!!

Well I do!
This one-piece garment is not only comfortable but also makes you chic instantly.
The moment I saw this on Liz Uy, one of Manila's Style Icons, it was the perfect sign that I did make the right choice.

JumpSuits being a kind of Sportswear originated from SkyDiving and eventually became popular for skiing and motorsports.
Look just how it has developed ...Now, it's one HOT fashion item.
I'm so glad that this jumpsuit comes in Mustard Yellow, a very unique color. It just makes you standout.

.
Shades from Eye Channel, New York

Flattering fabric that does not easily wrinkle

Interesting detail: Tassel belt

So why do I recommend wearing a JumpSuit?

1) JumpSuits give you maximum mobility.
2) JumpSuits give you a slimming effect as it has an "unbroken line" from the neck down to your ankles.
3) Getting In and out of a Jumpsuit is very easy. ( Might get tricky when going to the Bathroom though =)) )
That's Fashion! There's always that price to pay :)

Empire State of Mind

This dress I'm wearing is actually a blouse and a skirt.
Since most of my clothes are not suited for office wear, I have to experiment a lot.
No worries though, I think it turned out nice :)

Empire-cut tops like the one I'm wearing are flattering but can actually make one look pregnant.
This is because of the seemingly elevated placement of the waistline.
Fret no more because you can easily fix this by wearing a long skirt or a bandage skirt in my case.

Go for darker colors if you want to add that slimming effect.
Play with colors and textures also to make your look interesting.
Mine was a blue-green Velvet top and a Black bandage skirt.

Simple Tip:
Wear clothes that flaunt your best asset.
Trends come and go so don't feel obligated to follow a style trend that doesn't look good on you :)

Feel the Rush

I'm High! Uh-Oh, Silly... I'm not intoxicated with drugs.
The kind of High I'm feeling is that feeling you get after doing something that you don't get a chance to often do.

So what are they?

The first one is Dairy Queen's Product Launch Event and the second is GoKarting.

Just yesterday (November 10) at around 6:30pm, DQ  had an exclusive event entitled “Dress Me Up: A Fashion Bloggers Event” at the Sapphire Room of Gateway Suites, with the help of Araneta Center. It was an exclusive holiday fashion event featuring the ff:

     Ladies of Bb.Pilipinas

Miss Universe Philippines 2012 Janine Tugonon,
          Bb. Pilipinas International Nicole Schmitz,
          Bb. Pilipinas-Tourism Katrina Dimaranan,
          Bb. Pilipinas 2012 2nd Runner-up Annalie Forbes,
Miss International 2011 Semi-Finalist Dianne Necio

together with 8 pairs of fashion bloggers and some male models from Next Models.

It was the first time for DQ to hold a big event like this as they are at the same time introducing their Newest Product, Black Forest. As such, Black and Red were the colors of the night.

This is what I wore. My dress is actually a bit backless. Too bad I forgot to take a picture of my back. :))

Pumps from Parisian

Anyways, how did I get invited?
Well, thanks to my lovely twin Sophie who was one of the lucky winners of DQ's facebook contest.
I'm her +1 :)

Here's some pictures from the event proper

We get to enjoy DQ's Black Forest while enjoying the fashion show!
For you guys out there, go to your nearest DQ store and grab a cup of DQ's Black Forest.
Taste the goodness of chewy chocolate bits and cherries. Oh, they make a great pair!

Team goes home with P7000

And of course...the Ultimate winner...

Drumrolls pls..

1st prize goes to Contestant 4.
Team goes home with P20,000!
Congratulations! They were actually my sure bet at the very start of the contest!
I would say the styling is indeed a classic but with a twist of sophistication and texture. It was also a plus as the model walked confidently making the whole look work out perfectly.

The event ended with more photo ops including the DQ Management

As the guests started leaving, they started partying the night away starting with ramp modeling. Kudos!

Oh, how I wish I get to be invited again to another DQ event with my twin sister. Or if opportunity arises and we get to be part of a succeeding Dress Me Up: A Fashion Bloggers Event, it would definitely be something. I wish upon a star :)

All in all, It was definitely a night to remember!

Lastly, thanks for the treats DQ :)

My my, i've talked a lot :)
Off to my second "Drug"

So how did I spend my afternoon before attending the DQ Event?
I went Go-Karting in CityKart located at Park Square, Makati. It was actually my first time to try karting at that place. My friend gave me this Race voucher as a Christmas Gift and it's about time I avail of it before it expires.

I went to CityKart at exactly lunchtime so I'm actually lucky to have the entire race track to myself! My very first Go-kart experience was at Speedzone in Fort Bonifacio so I already knew how to kart when I got there. But back then I had competition which of course is extra fun :)

My Best time 1:16.284 :) Not bad I guess =))

This Day was indeed Sugar and Spice! Adrenaline Rush!!!! Definitely worth it! :)

'til my next event! Cheeers! Don't forget to checkout my twin's blog as well.

Shades of Grey

It just got me thinking...

How do you know if it's the right time?
In love...
In relationships...
In business...

Well, those were my thoughts for the night...
Good thing with dressing up, I'd say it's my forte.
No problem with that.

Off-shoulder and flowers.
You can never go wrong with it.
You will instantly look chic without being too flashy.

 Muffin Clothing

Everything in the future does seem to be in shades of grey
There is just no certainty.
And truth is, that scares me the most.
But then again, maybe it's meant to be that way.

Maybe in time, we will be able to fill this gap and simply just know... Hopefully :)

Solstice

After the long weekend, it's time for work again! Oh well, that's life! :)

This is what I wore today at the office. I'm so glad there is no dress code.
Well, setting aside the little No-No's such as wearing slippers and the like.
But of course, when there are very important meetings,
I make sure I dress appropriately to make that impression count.

This Peplum of mine reminds me so much of the Galaxy as well as Cosmic patterns, thus the Title.
I just love how the colors Blue, Brown, Gold & Black mix well together.

Don't be afraid to choose designs like this. It can actually make you standout.
You can also try Print over Print style of dressing. They are still popular these days :)

P.S. If you've missed out seeing me in my Peplum when I have to make that impression,
here's my previous post: Hourglass

Lady in Red

RED.
The color I should be in during extremely special birthday celebrations.
Since I was attending a 70th birthday celebration, I had no excuse but to follow.
As expected, everyone in the party was in Red.

In Chinese culture, it is said that once a person reaches the age of 60,
it marks a significant part of his life and thus worthy of a big celebration.
After that, bigger birthday parties are held in subsequent decades.

TRIVIA
In weddings, traditional Chinese would make sure that Red is included in one of the color motifs.
Usually they choose Red and Gold, doubling the couple's luck.

Also, remember those Red packets or what they call Ang Pao given usually during the New Year
All these are small trinkets/ signs wishing the person good luck, happiness and prosperity.

Dress from UnaRosa
Pumps from MNJ

The color Red simply means Good Luck and Prosperity for the Chinese.
It's just pure respect and courtesy to wear such color when you get invited to these special events.
So next time you are asked to attend one, you know what to wear :)

Take Me Away

Want some quick fix to perk up your day?
My answer is simple. Wear a color that you'll look good in.
In my case, it would be the mixture of the colors Blue and Green
I'm guessing Teal is the exact color.

Dress from Bazaar
Belt from Plains & Prints
Aviator shades
Loafers from Tomato

Wearing bright colors will not only make you noticeable, but also have a positive effect on your attitude.
Many say that Green is one of the best colors as it is one of the dominant colors of nature.
Thus, shifting your attention to nature or to a color associated to it (NOTE: Even for just a few minutes!) can actually relax you.

Feel like experimenting? Then mix different shades similar to what I just did.
Just make sure that the colors will complement each other and not hurt the eyes of bystanders.
You wouldn't want them to have an eye-sore, would you?

Aside from feeling good this day, I actually did get several compliments about my look.
Thank you random people. That was definitely a Plus for me :)
